Online Booking For Volvo XC40 EV Now Closed – Over 400 Orders Received

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has decided to close its online order for the 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric because the bookings have been ‘overwhelming’.

Since its debut back in March 2022, they’ve received over 400 online orders for the XC40 EV model and over 120 units have been successfully delivered to excited customers.

According to Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, “The encouraging sales numbers are a stepping-stone to our all-electric journey. Just a couple of months ago we launched our first fully electric car and announced the local assembly of EV cars. We have started delivery of the cars to our customers since April, providing them with a vehicle that allows them the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way.”

While the bookings for the 2022 model are now done and over with (for now), those who still have their eyes set on the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will be glad to know that VCM will start taking orders again following the introduction of the 2023 model year in the near future

Just a little bit of patience on your next step as an ‘eco warrior’.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric is VCM’s first all-electric model that offers a fully-electrified driving range of up to 418km (based on the WLTP cycle). Priced at RM262,459 (‘Hassle-Free Price’ with five years warranty + service package + roadside assistance, and eight years EV battery warranty), the 2022 CKD model is available in five different colour options – Black Stone, Crystal White Pearl, Denim Blue, Glacier Silver, and Sage Green.

All-New 2023 Lexus RX Outed – Fresh Design, Tech/Luxury Upgrades, More Electrification

With this freshly unveiled 5th-generation of the popular Lexus RX, the Japanese luxury marque has given its 5-seat sub-flagship SUV a complete once-over, revamping everything from the interior, exterior, and even its line-up of powertrains.

Against such rivals as the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90, the RX has always proven itself as a force to be reckoned with. However, with this newest iteration bearing the nameplate from 2022 onwards, Lexus has clearly taken a more aggressive approach to patch up its deficiencies.

2023 Lexus RX – Designed To Impress

Like before, it is built on Toyota’s TNGA (GA-K) platform but has a wheelbase extended by a seemingly minuscule 6mm. More substantially, it boasts a 15mm wider front track matched to an additional 40mm spacing for each rear wheel. Its roofline has also dropped by 10mm, which all contributes to a lower centre of gravity and theoretically improved handling.

Still, it’s a Lexus, so don’t expect to violate the laws of physics through a set of bends, but it does deliver some insight into where the brand has set its priorities. Against this theme of added dynamism is the all-new RX’s design, one that embraces a sportier, harder-edged aesthetic no matter which variant is looked upon.

It looks more hunkered on the road, owing to its more squat (21-inch) wheel positioning and a more sloping roofline that stops short of falling into the dreaded coupe-SUV territory. Adding to this is the 89kg weight reduction over the outgoing RX.

There’s also quite clearly some design overlap with the cues first seen in the Lexus RZ, their first fully electric vehicle, though brand signatures such as the hexagonal front grille remain on full display, flanked here by new headlights with arrowhead daytime running light signatures.

Luxury, Japanese Style

Things are decidedly less bold when stepping inside. Perhaps more than any other element of the all-new RX, the cabin sticks to established norms instead of forging its own new path. The combination of materials, interior trim pieces, control surfaces, and ergonomics are not far removed from other Lexus models.

That’s not to say the RX isn’t plush since we know the Japanese brand excels in build quality and finish, possibly trouncing every other equivalent vehicle in their class, with the possible expense of a singular ‘wow factor’.

2023 Lexus RX Variants

The range starts with the RX 350h with that suffix denoting its status as a hybrid (the non plug-in type). It uses a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol paired with an electric motor in series to output a combined 246hp and 315Nm of torque to all four wheels. Gone is the larger capacity V6 engine altogether.

Meanwhile, a less efficient and expensive but ultimately more powerful RX350 will also be made available that uses a 2.4-litre turbo-petrol for 275hp and 430Nm in a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive configuration. However, the non-turbo fuel-sipping hybrid is advertised to be quicker to 100km/h.

Above this, we have the RX450h+ that pairs the RX350h’s 2.5-litre engine with a larger lithium battery and beefier electric motor. This variant is a plug-in hybrid that Lexus is being light with on details, though we are presuming this to mirror the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV in terms of mechanicals, meaning an output of 302hp.

No More V6 Power, More Electrification

At the peak of the RX range is the RX500h F Sport Performance which wants to leave as little room as possible to doubt its top-dog status. This one pairs the 2.4-litre turbo motor with the usual assortment of components that make up the highly regarded Toyota/Lexus series hybrid system.

While the combustion engine is mainly concerned with driving the front wheels, there’s a high torque electric motor at the rear axle to provide all-wheel traction. The automaker is dubbing this DIRECT4, and as a combined unit endows the RX500h with 367hp and 644Nm, enough to launch the range-topping RX to 100km/h in just 6.0 seconds. In terms of pure pace from standstill, this is about level with the BMW X5 xDrive45e but still a hair behind the XC90 T8.

Each variant of this 5th-generation RX will come equipped with Lexus Safety System 3.0. This includes the brand’s Autonomous Emergency Braking solution (they call it Pre-Collision System) with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert, and All-Speed Dynamic Cruise Control.

We’ll keep you posted on when exactly the all-new RX will hit Malaysian shores but don’t hold your breath if you were hoping it would show up within the next few months.

BMW Unveils All-New X1 For 2022 Alongside Fully Electric iX1

BMW have revealed an all-new generation of their most compact SUV/crossover, or Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) as they might insist, the X1. Aside from a new exterior and interior design, there’s now a fully electric variant called the iX1.

Designated the U11, this 3rd-generation X1 replaces the F48 that’s been around since 2015, bringing with it a refreshed look that reflects the Munich automaker’s current design direction. Upon this initial announcement, the range consists of the xDrive23i, the sportier xDrive30e M Sport plug-in hybrid, and the all-electric iX3 xDrive30.

New Platform, New All-Electric iX1

Of course there is a substantially larger kidney grille at the nose, but besides this the exterior surfacing has been made a little more squared for a chunkier look that’s amplified by more noticeably flared wheel arches, plenty of gloss black (Shadowline?) trim accents, and flush door handles.

That said, it still overall resembles an X1 so far as its side profile goes while the rear end echoes the 1 Series (F40). Inside is where things get a bit more dramatic where the X1 has clearly been brought up to snuff with its more recent stablemates.

BMW FAAR Platform

It sits upon BMW’s newer FAAR platform as opposed to the F48’s UKL2 underpinnings enabling broader support for electrified powertrains. As before, it will lock horns with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40.

With an overall length of 4,500mm, width of 1,845mm, and height of 1,642mm, the all-new X1 is expectedly larger than its predecessor, though not by much. More pertinent is its lengthened wheelbase (by 22mm) and 31mm wider track, all contributing to a more voluminous interior.

Complete Interior Revamp

Greeting the driver and passengers is a completely restyled cabin with an elegantly tiered dashboard as its focal point. Perched above that is the dual-screen iDrive infotainment and digital driver’s display framed within a curved panel.

Presumably, much of the physical controls have been replaced by the iDrive system running BMW Operating System 8. The centre tunnel is also something new from the brand, featuring a multi layer storage area, vertically mounted wireless smartphone charger. A new miniaturised gear shift lever and rotary iDrive controller sit atop a freestanding console.

We’ll expect the powertrain spread to include plenty of returning turbocharged small capacity engines from the automaker’s existing arsenal, albeit with the majority of them standing to integrate a 48V mild-hybrid system to improve efficiency and low-speed responsiveness. All of which would be mated to an 8-speed automatic sourced from Aisin.

The PHEV of the bunch, the X1 xDrive30e, uses a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol paired with an electric motor to produce a stout combined output of 326hp and 477Nm. By contrast, the electric iX1 xDrive30 –  which you can tell apart by its enclosed grille and blue themed accents – is powered by a pair of electric motors for all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output of 313hp and 494Nm, needing just 5.7 seconds to reach 100km/h.

iX1: BMW’s Entry EV

It utilises a 64.7kWh lithium ion battery that BMW claims can deliver a range up to 438km based on the WLTP cycle. The iX1 supports AC charging up to 22kW and DC fast charging at a rate of up to 130kW which could theoretically bring the iX1 from 10% to 80% capacity in 29 minutes.

The automaker expects the combustion-powered X1 variants to hit showrooms internationally closer to the end of Q3 2022 with the iX1 and plug-in hybrid xDrive30e to follow around November. Closer to home, we’ll keep our ear to the ground as to when BMW Malaysia might be launching the new model locally.

DBKL Must Also Tow Away Cars From These Areas In June 2022

Many Malaysians want DBKL to tow away more cars from other residential areas around the Klang Valley to clear up road congestion.

When we wrote about how DBKL was going to start towing away vehicles in Mont Kiara in June, it was met with a lot of comments from netizens who felt that DBKL or even MBPJ could also give many more areas around the Klang Valley the same treatment.

It seems that a lot more areas around the capital are also congested due to illegal parking by inconsiderate motorists.

While there are just too many comments to pickup out, the general census is that many more areas around the Klang Valley could be free of congestion if DBKL and other local city councils further expand the area of towing.

Some areas that were repeatedly mentioned include:

Brickfields
Pasar Borong Selayang
Bandar Sri Permaisuri
Sri Petaling
Old Klang Road

An irate netizen who seemed fed up with the many congested roads in the capital simply challenged DBKL to do this everywhere, not just in an affluent area. He was not the only one to point this out as there were many more netizens who commented that the towing shouldn’t ONLY take place in Mont Kiara.

It does seem that many Malaysians are now starting to get fed up with road congestion caused by inconsiderate motorists. While parking fines can be considered a good deterrent against illegal parking, it seems that it no longer works which is why many Malaysians/ expatriates believe that all city councils should start towing away vehicles to free up road congestion.

Better yet, if we don’t want every vehicle to be towed away, why don’t we all just be a bit more considerate and park at designated areas which will ultimately clear up the congestion. This way, we all win and together we can have better-flowing roads.

We want you to chime in, and tell us about your area. Is it congested due to illegal parking? Are naughty motorists parking on double yellow lines and blocking the road? Has your local council done enough to help the situation?

Enhanced Touch ‘n Go Cards Sold Out Once Again!

Just as you thought you could grab yourself the newly enhanced Touch ‘n Go card with NFC capabilities, it once again becomes sold out within a matter of hours.

Ever since Touch ‘n Go launched its upgraded Touch ‘n Go Card in April, where users can perform card reloads anytime, anywhere from their Touch ‘n Go eWallet app – it has been selling like hotcakes.

The first batch sold out within hours, and every subsequent batch after also followed suit. But, just as you thought things might have calmed down and that you could finally get yourself one, the newest batch which was made available a few days ago, has also sold out incredibly quickly.

The most recent batch was supposed to be made available in June, but it came earlier than expected. Those who had Touch ‘n Go’s eWallet app were prompted about its availability, but within a few hours, the app started to notify users that it was sold out.

Touch ‘n Go’s new card retails for RM10, the same amount as the version without NFC. Thanks to NFC technology, it enables users to top up their cards via their mobile devices, which has made it popular.

Ever since its launch, the card has been hard to find, let it be at petrol stations, convenience stores, or even the Touch ‘n Go app itself, as it is out of stock. The lack of stock has also seen some parties resell the card at a much higher price than the original, up to RM100.

If the card comes with a custom sticker, some sell it for up to RM132 each.

Although not many sell at this high a price, most sell this card on online trading platforms at a price gap of between RM35 – RM85.

If you don’t like the idea of re-sellers selling it at a higher price, you could always just purchase it through the eWallet app when another batch comes in. You would have to be quick about it though because it seems that there is no room for slowpokes, as they are HIGH in demand.

Post Title

Kemunculan generasi baharu Perodua Alza amat dinantikan ramai.

Ivory White (solid)
Glittering Silver (metallic)
Garnet Red (metallic) – Varian X terkecuali
Vintage Brown (metallic) – Varian X terkecuali
Elegant Black (metallic)

Apple Carplay, Android Auto

A.S.A. 3.0
Driving Assist
Parking Assist
Headlamp Assist

Mungkin Tak Guna Nama Alza?
