Penghantar Makanan Langgar Lampu Merah, Myvi Diterbalikkan – 9 Individu Ditahan

Sebuah rakaman video tular menunjukkan sebuah Perodua Myvi diterbalikkan di perkarangan sebuah stesen minyak di Johor Bahru. Apakah cerita disebalik insiden ini?

Pada awalnya, Myvi tersebut diterbalikkan orang ramai kerana didakwa melanggar lampu merah sehingga mencederakan seorang penghantar makanan, tapi ada plot twist pula.

Ejek Punca Terbalik?

Rakaman Dashcam Jadi Bukti

PDRM Tahan 9 Individu

Elon Musk is new Twitter CEO, automakers stop all advertising spend

Elon Musk buyout and eventual instatement as CEO of social media platform Twitter has raised plenty of concern among automakers given his ongoing position of Tesla, their major rival in the EV space.

If we didn’t know any better, we’d say that he’s got them triggered. And who can really blame them. He has known to sound off some eyebrow-raising tweets from time to time and once posted “I hate advertising.”

Since Musk’s first day helming the micro-blogging site, the rumours have been swirling about the man’s agenda pushing within the company in addition to public/leaked information of incoming layoffs and corporate restructuring to make Twitter more profitable, including making the platform a paid-only service.

When it comes to automakers, though, most if not all within their marketing spheres are at least wary of this development. Some major brands and automotive groups have decided to outright withdraw their advertising spend on the platform.

This was unofficial boycott was led by Audi USA, but later expanded to include the entirety of the Volkswagen Group (Porsche, Bugatti-Rimac, Skoda, SEAT, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati) who, in a statement to Reuters, said: “We are closely monitoring the situation and will decide about the next steps depending on its evolvement.”

Since these companies are now liable to disclose sensitive information within the platform, one now owned by a rival automaker’s CEO, practices such as private messages and the tweeting about sales, promotions, new model teasers and such will come with an undertone of paranoia.

Fellow American automotive brand Ford has also come out admitting it has halted all advertising spend on Twitter following Musk’s takeover, and the same goes with General Motors. A spokesperson for GM said that the company was “engaging with Twitter to understand the direction of the platform under new ownership.”

Stellantis, the 4th largest automaker by volume, has taken a less aggressive stance, saying that it will continue to monitor all social media channels involved with its brands and will stay “vigilant” of any untoward activity or behaviour.

Beyond automotive, there are plenty of other brands that have been observed responding similarly to their involvement with the Twitter platform, ranging from cosmetics to big food.

Currently, it is estimated that advertising accounts for 90% of Twitter’s revenue.

Mahathir: Pakatan Harapan’s toll abolishment just more empty promises

Gerakan Tanah Air’s (GTA) chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad has struck at Pakatan Harapan’s pledge to abolish tolls should the coalition win the upcoming 15th general elections (GE15).

With voting to kick off in less than two weeks, it personally surprises us that only one party has come forth to make that promise.

The Pakatan Harapan coalition had made similar pledge prior to their GE14 win in May 2018, couching the promise by adding that it would be done “in stages.”

It has been considered, reconsidered, walked back, and left idle for so long now that Malaysians have begrudgingly accepted the never-ending sequence of tolled highways as a fact of life, especially so in the Klang Valley.

However, Tun M believes that GTA’s words here ring hollow, questioning the financial feasibility to remove major highways from paid access.

“I don’t believe the people will support them because they know that the country needs tolls,” he said at an event, adding “They (previously) claimed that they will abolish tolls. This time around, they are still promising to do the same.”

Within the same session he added that other pledges in the 2018 general election (GE14) manifesto were not able to be fulfilled, such as the abolishment of the mandatory death penalty.

That said, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng’s pledge only involved removing all tolls along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) if Pakatan Harapan comes out on top and forms the next federal government, citing the 18% reduction in highway toll rates that had occurred when they were in power for 22 months.

Still, other reports say that Guan Eng expanded further on the toll issue, indicating that it “can abolish all tolls” if it’s able to stay as the ruling party for another 5 years.

2023 Mazda CX-8 facelift unveiled – to go on sale this December, comes with CTS and new driving feel

The Mazda CX-8 has been given a facelift in Japan and will go on sale there next month. The three-row SUV comes with several exterior changes, new colour, tweaked suspension and is now equipped with Mazda’s intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive).

Exterior

The 2023 Mazda CX-8 adopts the latest Kodo: soul of motion design,  which brings it closer to the design of the current Mazda CX-5.

The front grille has been replaced with a grille that has a thicker chrome finish, along with a mesh pattern inside. The bumper now sports a more simpler design, with a single centre air vent at the bottom and a redesigned decorative skid plate.

The front lights are also new, featuring twin L-shaped LED daytime running lights just like the CX-60. Although the lights still utilise adaptive LED technology, it now comes with 20 light elements, compared to the 12 on the current model.

At the rear, the taillights also feature a similar L-shaped design, joining the look of the car together. The rear bumper is new too, designed to emphasis the width of the car.

There’s also a new colour for the CX-8,  Rhodium White Premium Metallic.

Interior

There’s no major changes when it comes to the interior, but the front seats have been bolstered to improve body holding.

USB Type C ports are now available, as is wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity and Mazda has decided to equip the CX-8 with Mazda’s intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive), which adds off-road mode added alongside normal and sport.

CTS, suspension and powertrain

The 2023 CX-8 has been given Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS) which automatically operates the acceleration and braking system to maintain a proper trailing distance to the vehicle in front. It also assists with steering operations to keep the car in the correct lane.

The suspension setup for the CX-8 has also been tweaked to improve body control on bumpy and undulating roads.

Although it looks like that the CX-8 will soldiers on with unchanged engines, models fitted with the 2.5-litre turbo will come with a punchier feel as Mazda has tweaked the accelerator pedal mapping and changed the transmission shift timing.

In Japan, the CX-8 is offered with several engine options, including a 2.5-liter NA four-cylinder with 190 PS/252 Nm, 2.5-liter turbo engine with 230 PS/420 Nm, and a 2.2-liter turbo four-cylinder with 200 PS/450 Nm. All engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Japan will be getting the facelift CX-8 in December 2022, Australia will be getting theirs in March 2023, so perhaps we will get ours by Q4 2023.

Over 200 Hyundai Staria 10-seater in the first month

The 2022 Hyundai Staria 10-seater was just launched by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) in early October and over 200 units were sold within a span of a month.

Regarded as a ‘future-forward’ multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Hyundai Staria first entered the market back in 2021 with a heftier price tag of RM358,888 for the Premium seven-seater premium.

The 10-seater, however, got a much friendlier price point from RM179,888 to RM209,888, which explains why the Staria made such a sales impact within a month of its launch.

Spaceship-inspired exterior

The 10-seater Hyundai Staria might have slightly different specs compared to the more premium seven-seater variant, but the overall spaceship-inspired exterior is maintained with the exception of a few differences such as conventional LED headlamps and a different front grille.

There are three variants of the 10-seater Staria on offer – Lite, Plus, and Max. Across the board, all three models share the same wraparound DRLs, 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and of course, the CRDi 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, VGT diesel engine which produces 176hp and 431Nm of torque.

Demands expected to rise going into 2023

According to Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director, Retail and Distribution of Sime Darby Motors Malaysia, “With more than 200 units sold since its launch in early October, we are encouraged that the Malaysian public recognises the features of Hyundai Staria 10-seater as a dynamic MPV which offers the best of both worlds, in terms of practicality and performance. We expect demand to only continue to rise in the remaining months and into the new year.”

Bahaya Garisan Putih Jalan Raya Kepada Penunggang Motosikal

Fungsi Garisan Putih Jalan Raya

Penanda jalan (simbol)
Anak panah
Perkataan

Kenapa Garisan Putih Jalan Raya Berbahaya Kepada Penunggang Motosikal?

Permukaan Tidak Rata

Tampalan Garisan Jalan Sementara

All-new Honda WR-V unveiled in Indonesia – Ativa’s biggest rival?

Indonesia staged the global debut of the all-new Honda WR-V compact SUV model earlier this week.

Using the SUV RS Concept which was unveiled in the country last year, the Honda WR-V is the final product that has entered the production stage. Sitting comfortably just under the Honda HR-V, the Honda WR-V is said to rival some big competition within its category that consists of the Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize. In Malaysia, that would be the Perodua Ativa.

Three variants with the same 1.5L NA engine

There will be three different variants made available for the all-new Honda WR-V in Indonesia – the base E, mid RS, and the range-topping RS with Honda Sensing. With dimensions of 4,060mm (long), 1,780mm (wide), and 1,608mm (tall), the latest compact SUV from Honda is slightly shorter and lower but wider compared to the Perodua Ativa.

That funky design is powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 121ps at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. Mated to a CVT transmission, it’s the same engine configuration for all three WR-V variants which can also be found in the non-hybrid and non-turbo Honda City and HR-V.

Honda WR-V E, RS, or RS with Honda Sensing?

The base Honda WR-V model is already starting strong with specs like:

One push ignition system with remote engine start
Keyless entry
7-inch infotainment touchscreen
16-inch five-spoke alloy wheels
LED turn signals for the side mirrors
Rear multi-angle reverse parking camera
Digital AC panel
Four airbags
380-litre boot space + more

Moving up to the Honda WR-V RS model, this variant comes with a few extras such as:

Full LED headlight with LED DRLs
Chromed chequered front grille
Walk away auto lock
17-inch two-tone alloy wheels
Analogue/digital combination meter cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT display
Leather/fabric combination seats
Auto AC
Side mirrors with auto fold

The range-topping Honda WR-V RS with Honda Sensing sits at the very top with specs like:

Honda Sensing
Honda LaneWatch
Six airbags
USB power outlet
Auto headlights

Honda WR-V – From RM82k to RM94k in Indonesia

As for the price tag, the base Honda WR-V E variant is priced at Rp271.9 million, followed by Rp289.9 million for the RS, and Rp309.9 million for the RS with Honda Sensing. That’s roughly in the ballpark of between RM82,000 to RM94,000.

There are six colour options to choose from – Taffeta While (E variant only), Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and three exclusive colours for the RS variants – Stellar Diamond Pearl, Ignite Red Metallic, and Ignite Red Metallic (two-tone).

Is it a good enough prospect to be brought into the Malaysian market and go head-to-head with the Perodua Ativa? Like everything else, the price will be the determining factor if it does land on our shores.
